NHK World

In late 2024, I collaborated with KAFKA’s Suzuki Kazuya and producer Kobayashi Yōko to create a documentary on Japan’s ancient capital cities for NHK World.    Time and Tide “History Uncovered: The Secrets of Kyoto – Thousand-Year Capital” was first broadcast on February 1, 2025.

A few weeks later, I worked with the same team to create a documentary on Kofun-period haniwa (clay figurines) and the presumed tomb of the 6th-century ruler Keitai Tennō for NHK World. Time and Tide “History Uncovered: A Message in Clay” was first broadcast on March 29, 2025.

Both documentaries continue to be screened periodically.

JAH-Q

In 2015 I was one of the co-founders of the Journal of Asian Humanities at Kyushu University. Initially, I was mainly involved as the journal’s copy editor, but in 2022 I became its Editor in Chief. The journal has experienced steady growth in the decade since the publication of the first issue.

I regularly participate in roundtable discussions with other editors of Japan-based academic journals and in March 2026, I was invited by the Japan Foundation, Jakarta to take part in their Japanese Studies Research Workshop for junior Japanese Studies scholars based in Southeast Asia. Together with editors of other journals I spent an intensive two days with these young scholars to share tips and tricks on how they can get their research published.

SENTAN-Q

In 2022, I was selected as one of a handful of trainees in Kyushu University’s ambitious SENTAN-Q project which provides an opportunity to outstanding female and young faculty members to acquire research and educational skills that meet the highest international standards and the wide knowledge required of senior researchers and management.

For two years, I took part in training sessions on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, university governance, and active learning, while also lecturing at multiple universities in Europe and the US. After successfully completing the program, I was promoted to Professor in January 2025.
